Tight Battles For Victory At Newcastle

from Stars of Karting

The action came thick and fast during finals day in round four of the CIK Stars of Karting Series at Newcastle today.

In the Pro Gearbox (KZ2) ranks it was Tyler Greenbury who broke through to claim his maiden round victory.

The Intrepid pilot took the win ahead of defending series champion Matthew Wall and rising star Macauley Jones.

Eighth place in the second final was enough to move Kel Treseder into the Championship lead – four points clear of Greenbury. The top seven in the standings are covered by a mere ten points.

In his comeback drive Damien Radosevic dominated the final in the Pro Light (KF1) category after Cian Fothergill endured a mechanical issue off the start.

Unfortunately for the Top Kart driver, his transponder fell off and he was excluded from the results – handing Jake Spencer the race win after he had charged from the back of the field.

Fothergill recovered from the issue at the start of the race to cross the line behind Spencer and in the process claimed the New South Wales State Championship for the category.

Gillard pilot Daniel Rochford rounded out the podium.

Western Australian driver Jake Klarich claimed his second round victory in the Pro Junior (KF3) ranks when he crossed the line ahead of Brock Plumb and Top Kart pilot Joseph Mawson.

Courtesy of his win Klarich moved into second place in the championship, one point clear of Mawson. Pierce Lehane, who finished fifth today remains as the championship leader.

Jaie Robson proved too good in the Yamaha Challenge Clubman category while Stefan Stankovic won Junior National. Jayden Ojeda won the Rookies category.
