Third WSK Title For De Vries

Nyck De Vries (Zanardi-Parilla) has just added another title to his stunning list of victories and remains the most brilliant driver of his generation. After the four rounds of the WSK Euro Series, the Dutch karter concluded with a comfortable lead in the KF1 Championship, claiming another victory during the final meeting at Zuera, Spain.
History repeated itself for Nyck De Vries on the very fast and difficult circuit of Zuera. It was there that he conquered his first success in 2008, at the WSK Euro Series, and was crowned European KF3 Champion in 2009 as well as World Champion in 2010.
"For me, each race is a new challenge and a new opportunity to give the best of myself to win", commented Nyck. With this meeting held exactly one week after the World Championship round, where he was by far the fastest on this same Spanish circuit, Nyck knew that his opponents would try to react and fill the gap.
From the first timed qualifying session, Polish driver Basz was ahead of him, but Nyck De Vries changed a few parameters on his chassis for the Super Pole and got the lead by a few thousandths. Then he won two qualifying heats and conquered a fantastic victory in Saturday's final.
"I really fought hard in the heats, because I could never gain enough lead to relax. With the team, we improved our equipment even more and I won the final with a solid lead".
And thanks to this victory, the Chiesa Corse driver wore his third crown in the WSK Euro Series, this time at the highest level in KF1. "In 2010 I came very close to the title and I really wanted to win again in the WSK, where all major international teams race. Moreover, the success I conquered in Final 1 allowed me to start Sunday with much more serenity".
But Nyck is not the type of person who rests on his laurels. Always determined and focused on his goal, he fought hard to triumph in Final 2, with a decoration especially made for the occasion and a new helmet with colours that resembles the emblem of the Zanardi make. His task, however, became more difficult after he was pushed a few times in the pack. "Karting is a great racing school that teaches you fair play. You do not become a champion by pushing your opponents".
After these incidents, Nyck lost his place on the first row and started again to the conquest of the top step of the podium. Quickly second, he pushed very hard to catch the leader, British driver Albon, and was unstoppable when he passed him with only a few laps to go. "I wanted to absolutely conquer the title on my last year in karting, and now it's a done deal! Our performances have been excellent and constant throughout the four WSK rounds. Now I want to prepare at best for the last meetings of the World KF1 Championship".
"Nyck had definitely the best technical package and, as usual, he exploited it at best, even if his opponents made his life more difficult", concluded his team manager, Dino Chiesa.
