Strong CIK Performance For Team Top-Kart Comer Australia

press release

The 4th round of the CIK Stars of Karting was held at Newcastle Kart Racing Club on the 29th, 30th and 31 of July.  Top Kart drivers were at the forefront of the field, setting blistering pace in qualifying, polling 4 out of the 6 classes on offer.

Aaron Borg showed great pace throughout the weekend in the Clubman Yamaha Challenge, polling the field in his new 2012 28/30 Bullet, and winning the first 3 heats and pre final. In the final Aaron put a great drive in to finish in second place on the podium.

Stefan Stankovic aboard his T10 showed great pace throughout the weekend in the Junior National Yamaha Challenge, winning heats 1 and 2, whilst James Duckworth took out heat 3. In the Pre Final and Final it was Stefan Stankovic coming out on top and taking out the final win for the weekend.

Isaac Vaccarella had a solid weekend in the Rookie support class, qualifying 3rd fastest. After winning the 1st heat and pre final, Isaac put in a great effort in the final to finish 3rd on the podium.

Joseph Mawson was back in force once again, setting the pace by polling the field of KF3. Mawson showed the field how it was done during the heats showing superior speed to take out all 3 heat wins.

Final 1 saw Joseph elect to save his tyres for final 2, unfortunately Mawson’s kart suffered a mechanical issue with the carburettor, forcing him back to 5th position.

In Final 2, Mawson regained his composure after a bad start and managed to gain ground on his fellow competitors, however a race incident while passing for 2nd position saw Mawson cross the line in 3rd position. Mawson was later reinstated with 2nd position for Final 2.

Damien Radosevic, in KF1, continually improved throughout the weekend, after being out of a Kart for 12 months and jumping straight back in with no practice. The weekend saw Damien drive the Top-Kart for his first time ever.

Final 1 saw Damien finish a strong 2nd and in Final 2 Damien drove away from his fellow competitors crossing the line first by a substantial amount of time. In a stroke of bad luck, Damien’s transponder had fallen off his kart during the race causing him to be disqualified.

Macauley Jones was one of the stand outs in KZ2, polling the field in Qualifying and backing it up once again in the shootout. Heat 1 saw him forced to retire due to his clutch being burnt out at the start. Despite heat 1, this didn’t stop Macauley from taking out 1st place in heats 2 and 3. Macauley started from position 5 (due to heat 1) for Final 1 and  finished 2nd. A strong drive in Final 2 saw him finish 3rd on the podium.

Team co-owner Fergus Symes commented, “It just proves once again coming away with 4 pole positions in qualifying and such strong results throughout the weekend that Top-Kart, no matter what class it may be, is extremely competitive.

"All the drivers in the Top-Kart Comer Australia Team put in a fantastic effort over the weekend and I am looking forward to seeing them continue their great results at the last round at Eastern Creek”.
