Spencer Wins Racer Hard Charger Awardpress release Victorian Jake Spencer kept his championship hopes intact with a stunning drive through the field in the second Pro Light (KF1) final in round four of the 2011 CIK Stars of Karting Series presented by Castrol EDGE at Newcastle on the weekend. Courtesy of this drive, that saw the JAM Racing pilot move from 21st position on the grid to victory, Spencer (right, AF Images/Budd) has been awarded the Racer Inc. Hard Charger award for the event. “I fouled a plug off the start line in the first final which meant I was at the back for the second one and knew I had to put in a huge effort to get some points for the championship,” said Spencer. “I also had some luck on my side with Damien (Radosevic – who crossed the line first) losing his transponder, and also the fact that Cian (Fothergill) had an issue off the start line but in this championship you need to take every opportunity that you get.” Spencer will receive a Racer Inc. Merchandise pack for his prize. Another driver who put in a stunning display with a charge from 24th on the grid to seventh place in Pro Gearbox (KZ2) was Tracksa-backed driver John Grother. The 2011 range of official series merchandise produced by Racer Inc. remains available with t-shirts ($25+postage) and hats ($15+postage) available for order by emailing lee@starsofkarting.com.au Limited sizes are available.
