WSK Euro Series Finale

The WSK Euro Series ended in Spain on July 31. The winners of the five classes were De Vries (Zanardi-Parilla) in KF1, De Brabander (Parolin-TM) in KZ1, Van De Burgt (Maddox-Parilla) in KZ2, Cucco (Birel-Parilla) in KF2 and Sylvest (Tony Kart-Vortex) in KF3.

Nick De Vries lives up to expectations in KF1.
KF1 champion in the WSK Euro Series is 16 years old and comes from Sneek, Holland. Arriving in Zuera already leading the rankings, De Vries (Zanardi-Parilla-Vega) swept the board by winning every stage of the weekend, from the Superpole to both Saturday and Sunday’s Final.

His splendid achievement was anything but easy as English driver Alex Albon (Intrepid-TM-Vega) gave De Vries a rough ride up to the end. Albon aimed to win at least Final 2, but De Vries was unbeatable; after dominating in the early stage of the race, Albon endured De Vries’ ultimate attack in the concluding laps, which earned the Dutch driver the European success. Credit is also due for British driver Mark Litchfield (FA Kart-BMB-Vega) who had early held first place.

KZ1 crown goes to Rick Dreezen as Yannick De Brabander wins the race.
After winning Final 1 the day prior, Belgian Rick Dreezen (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) was cautious in Final 2 with the aim of wrapping up the score he needed for the season to assure him the KZ1 crown. The same race was monopolized by the Formula K team with Belgian Yannick De Brabander and Italian Antonio Piccioni (both on Parolin-TM-Vega) setting up a top-flight battle at the end of the year. To be successful, both of them had to defeat Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) who, after leading an early part of the race, finished thrid.

KZ2 season’s success to Joel Johansson and win in Zuera for Ryan Van De Burgt.
In KZ2, Dutchman Ryan Van De Burgt (Maddox-Parilla-Vega) won Final 2, his second win of the season. Behind him, Swedish Joel Johansson (Energy-TM-Vega) finished second ahead of his fellow citizen Douglas Lundberg (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega). Despite finishing second, Johansson remained at the top of the rankings.

Stefano Cucco wins KF2 title.
Pugnacious since the start of the weekend, Stefano Cucco (Birel-Parilla-Vega) won both the Pre-final and Final in KF2. In the conclusive two races, the driver from Biella was quickly into the lead. Thai Tanart Sathientirakul (Tony Kart-TM-Vega) succeeded in steadily closing the gap to Cucco in the concluding laps of the Final, but it was not enough to contend with him for victory. Third at the end of a consistent race was Belgian Sami Luka (Energy-TM-Vega).

Max Verstappen wins KF3 whereas Nicolai Sylvest dominates in the Final.
After winning the Pre-final, Max Verstappen (CRG-Parilla-Vega) started the KF3 Final well, however the Dutch boy soon lost ground in the decisive race. This allowed Danish karter Nicolai Sylvest to take over the lead ahead of his fellow citizen Nicklas Nielsen (both on Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega). Frenchman Esteban Ocon (FA Kart-Vortex-Vega) completed the podium, but with a considerable gap. Despite the poor Final, Verstappen's large lead on points enabled him to remain at the head of the points.
