Every Race Counts: NZ Pro Kart Round 4 Preview

It's going to be a case of every race counting as karters from across the country converge on Te Puke's Fagan's Valley Raceway this weekend for the penultimate round of this year's Mi Sedaap Pro Kart Series.
Unlike other series, where the the winner of the Final is the winner on the day, each Mi Sedaap series race (heats as well as finals) carries points, rewarding consistency as well as speed.

As such the points situation in each class remains incredibly close after three rounds with just three points separating defending champion and 2011 points leader Daniel Bray and 2009 champion Ryan Grant (both Auckland) in the blue riband KZ2 class, and only two separating current leader Mitchell Turner (Hawke's Bay) and the two drivers tied for second - Luke Dobbs and Joel Herbert (both Auckland) - in the Junior support class, KF3.
Only Tom Curran has anything like a buffer, the Hawke's Bay man leading the Masters support class by 12 points from Auckland's Mark Lane.
This weekend's round of the popular Mi Sedaap Pro Kart series has again attracted a bumper entry with drivers from as far south as Christchurch making the trip.
Bray and Grant are not the only drivers expected to feature in the KZ2 class either, with as many as six others - Aucklanders Graeme Smyth, Ryan Urban, Mathew Kinsman, Richard Moore and Will Thomason and Pukekohe's Jody Vincent - all still within striking distance of the leading pair.
The situation is similar in KF3 with Aucklanders Emilee Wright and Connor Westbury and local Bay of Plenty driver Mitchell Sanders all with 17 points of points leader Turner.
