Sub Zero Temperatures At Orange 6-Hour

press release

Orange kart track never fails to bring a smile to the faces of all who attend! We look forward to taking on the fast and furious corner that’s known as one of the best around!

Drivers thoroughly enjoyed practice; there was plenty of it, as the order for the hot lap shootout would be drawn out of a hat.

Excitement was high around the one lap dash qualifying format, a tough ask in cold conditions and brand new tyres with only the single lap to warm them up! WAR would lead the field off and set a time that all would measure themselves by. Palace Shakers next and the first of the Hondas would be sure to set a healthy time for others in the class to aim for.

Once all the stories of cold tyres, sideways action, locked brakes and over shot corners were told Dynamite #27 drove conservatively yet fast enough to take top spot! In the Hondas Palace Shakers #43 did a great job, smooth and quick to edge out Awesome Threesome #10. Hellrazor #666 also a great job into 3rd. In B grade Hope to Finish #75 with some last minute set up drove into top spot with guest pilot Aydee at the wheel.

The flag dropped with Kinetic #51 setting an unbelievably quick pace, WAR #35 able to go with them (just), Dynamite trying to hang on before early mechanical difficulties. The battle behind between a quick Baby Bonus #17 kart, Buildine #9 and Dodgy Boyz was great to watch.

In the Honda’s the battle would continue all day between Palace Shakers #43 and Awesome Threesome #10 in A grade. In B grade Bullit #50 and Benchwarmers #111 would race closely, with Team Frog (trying to extend their championship lead) unusually back in 3rd with RAD racing doing well only losing ground in the later stages of the race. Team Toxic #86 have shown some experience and speed in their short time with us and Mad #88 are certainly coming to terms with their newish rig always improving!

At the end of the day a combination of safety, consistency and speed won through with WAR #35 too good at them all on the day! Baby Bonus #17 looked really fast and did enough over the distance to beat the rest of the field home to take runner up! Dodgy Boyz #26 performed well to fill out the podium and not lose any ground in their championship campaign, while Blatt # 49 obviously with engines that were again off the pace were trying to peg back the points to series leaders Buildline #9. They did enough coming in 4th with Buildline suffering breakages.

After being close for much of the day Palace Shakers #43 take a well deserved win by 3 laps over Awesome Threesome #10, Ghetto #91 managed 3rd on their return.

In B grade Bullit just too clinical over the distance coming in 1st place (and completing the same number of laps as A grade second place getters). The Benchwarmers #111 are in the middle of an epic points fight with the teams around so it didn’t hurt that they managed their fifth successive podium to edge ahead of RAD and just behind Bullit. Leading team Frog #111 after some minor issues had to consolidate with a 3rd place!

With such exciting race meets to follow now is the time to join the fun if you think Endurance Racing might suit you and a couple of mates. Women and kids 16+ welcome to race also!

I know the current teams will thoroughly enjoy the reverse direction at Newcastle, bi direction and holiday feel at Port Macquarie, and end of year bash at Lithgow…bring them on!
