POINT PELEE KART CLUB SET TO HOST ANNUAL MEMORIAL WEEKEND EVENT
"Simulated rain and memorial races at Leamington-area club with over $2000 in cash prizes"

Point Pelee Kart Club (PPKC), along with home track Point Pelee Karting, is set to host their annual Simulated Rain and Memorial Race weekend September 17-18 at the Leamington, Ontario track. With two unique races on the schedule, this bonus club event will give drivers a chance to test their wet weather skills as well as pay tribute to past club members through a unique memorial event with over $2000 in cash prizes on the line.

The Simulated Rain Race is club favourite, with PPKC using water trucks to provide wet racing conditions for the entire day. While drivers have to endure the cold and miserable conditions that usually come with a rain race, this unique format will allow club members and guests the chance to race in the rain whether it is raining or the sun is shining. The Simulated Rain Race is set for Saturday, September 17 with open practice to follow the racing action. A pork loin BBQ and corn on the cob with all the trimmings, courtesy of Nooyen Farms Custom Ag Services, Point Pelee Karting and Adamson Farms, is also planned on Saturday night. A fireworks display, provided by DeAngelis Construction, will cap off a great day with club members, family and friends.

The Memorial Race will follow on Sunday, September 18 and with over $2000 cash prizes up for grabs, the racing is sure to be action-packed. $1000 in prize money, thanks to the generous donation by Windsor Mobile Wash and Marc Stehle, will be awarded to the winner of the Senior Medium class and will be by far one of the largest purses in Ontario four-cycle racing. The unique race format will see heat races set the grid for the final, instead of the usual qualifying session.

The final will also be special with a caution period scheduled when ten laps are remaining. The re-gridding of the field will bunch drivers up, with a ten-lap shoot-out determining the winner who will take home the cool $1000. In addition, the largest class other than the Senior Medium category will see the winner earn $500, courtesy of a generous donation by Glenn Willis. The largest junior class will see the winner take home $250, with second getting $150 and third earning $100, courtesy of another generous donation by Cole Cacciavillani and CF Group. Open practice will also be held once racing action concludes on Sunday.

The Memorial Race is a special day for all club members, as well as family and friends, as the club honours and remembers past karters. Point Pelee Kart Club invites everyone to come out and spend the entire weekend at both the special events planned for the weekend.
