ART Grand Prix Goes Karting

ART Grand Prix, the team that fields cars in GP2 and GP3, has created a kart team. According to French website kartcom.com, ART already has a chassis homologated with the CIK, the TS-01, and has set up a team base near the Lonato circuit in Italy.

Race car teams have in the past forged alliances with karters (think McLaren with Lewis Hamilton and now Nyck De Vries, Ferrari with Jules Bianchi) but this is possibly the first team to actually set up a dedicated karting operation.

"For our company, the decision to join such a valuable environment (ie, karting) makes a lot of sense and has synergies with our existing activities" said ART co-owner, Nicholas Todt. "As a drivers' manager, being involved in kart racing will give the chance to get in touch with the most promising drivers early in their career."

Armando Filini has been appointed Team Manager of the karting team which will have factory representation in KF and KZ categories.
