Preview: Australian Dirt Kart Nationals

press release - (full entry list was posted in the News on September 16 HERE)

Well, Its finally here, after two long years in the making the 2011 Australian Dirt Kart Title to be held at the Busselton Kart Club from September 30th to October 3rd is now only days away from being a reality.

I say that because when this club of 30 members took this on they did come to the realization of they had a lot of hard work ahead of them, but I can tell you they have put their heads down & bum up & achieved a massive amount of logistical work at the picturesque south west venue.

This will be one of the most unpredictable & underestimated title in years, many of the previous visiting drivers over the last few months have rolled into the venue for a pre title hit out with the illusion it is a fairly easy circuit to conquer, when they leave it’s a whole different opinion.

Jake Tranter who is currently WA, NT1 in KT Lights was quoted saying “I thought this would be a lot easier than it was, these local guys are tough” now that’s what will make this title a stand out from the rest, unpredictability!

At the end of the closure of nominations a record 294 nominations had been received with big numbers in some of the classes, split fields will be run in KT Lights, KT Mediums & KT Heavy, as well as 125 Heavy, 100 Opens, as well as that the Junior classes are maxed out at 19 nominations each, overall there was 294 nominations with 42 juniors & 142 adults leaving a staggering 110 drivers who are on double duties for the weekend.

The meeting kicks off on Friday with the traditional morning technical scrutineering, followed by practice at 12.00pm, as practice winds up the Busselton Kart Club will have a special opening ceremony leading into the opening round of heats at 2.00pm and racing will go till 9.00pm on the Friday night. When Saturday morning rolls around all the nerves of the drivers will be gone & it will be the business part of the Championships, 60+ races will be held on the Saturday commencing at 9.00am and concluding at the completion of round 5. On the final day the Sunday morning action will commence around 9.00am & will roll out the final 20 races of the program with the all conquering Rookies also on display for a demonstration run during the last day of proceedings, one thing is for sure with the 6 race, drop you worst result format, anything can happen.

Many defending champions put their titles on the line for the Australian Dirt Kart Titles like Scott Feder in KT Lights, Daniel Coleman in KT Heavy, Geoff Billing Statesmen’s, Ben Brown in the 125 class, KT Twin Ben Bull from the Lucindale Club in SA and from the Adelaide club Mark Burford in 125 Heavy class, so as you can see there are still many titles that are anyone’s at this stage of the lead up.

Lots of surprises & action is set down for the 3 days of competition all rounding out with a 500 person presentation dinner at the Broadwater resort in Busselton, this event will wake the dead, there is sure to be many highs as there is lows but at the end of this we all know that Dirt Karting will be the winner again.
