U18 Driver Busted For THC

A driver in the Under 18 World Championship has received a 3 month suspension for testing positive for THC, a metabolite of cannabis.

Simone Favaro took part in the Italian round at Ortona on 9 July 2011. The FIA Anti-Doping Disciplinary Committee concluded that a rule violation according of the FIA's Anti-Doping Regulations (Presence of a Prohibited Substance or its Metabolites or Markers in a Driver's Sample) had occurred.

Favaro was subsequently suspended from competition for 3 months and disqualified from all competitive results achieved during that time.

As such, results from the Ortona U18 round have been amended (see: http://www.cikfia.com/championships/cik-calendar/ortona/u18/results.html).
