Qualifying Report - Tasmanian ChampionshipTweetfrom Rebecca Wyatt Qualifying day at the 2011 Hunters Products Tasmanian Sprint Kart Championships has been run and won, with local and interstate drivers both triumphing and struggling with the changing conditions. Round 1 of qualifying was run in relatively dry conditions, but shortly after commencing round 2 the rain started to fall, meaning many of the grid positions for the first two heats were determined by the first runs. Junior National Heavy National Champion Anton De Pasquale had a successful day, qualifying fastest in Junior National Heavy and winning the first heat of both Junior National Heavy and Junior Clubman. He emerged relatively unscathed from the opening day of competition, as did Senior National Light National Champion Nicholas Ellen, qualifying fastest and taking out heat 1 of his pet event. Other drivers were not so lucky, with a high attrition rate once the rain started to fall more heavily, and a number of karts having unlucky mechanical issues, including a number of three-wheeled karts across the opening round. The best performances from local drivers include heat wins from Aiden Shelton in Clubman Heavy, Jamie Bricknell in Senior National Heavy, Peter Rogers in Over 40’s Pro, Chris Walpole in Tag 125 Light, and a ten-second margin of victory for Kristopher Hen in Clubman Super Heavy. Action Saturday and Sunday from 9am, at the Archerville Southern Cross Kartway, Pipers River Road, Turners Marsh. Results Clubman Heavy Junior National Light
