CRG Launch One-Make Gearbox CategoryTweetCRG is jumping on the increased popularity of 'shifter' karting by launching a one-make Gearbox kart championship in Italy next year - Formula 5 by Maxter. This new project will see a chassis produced by CRG under the Maxter brand, powered by a Maxter KZ engine. The engine can be used in either a 4-speed or 6-speed configuration, which can easily be swapped between settings by turning a pin.
"The 4-gear engine is particularly suitable for very young drivers or for all those drivers accustomed to racing on 700-800 metre tracks" CRG informed the media. "The 6-gear engine is suitable for more expert drivers, on tracks where the Maxter engine can perform at full throttle." A substitute exhaust manifold can further reduce the performance of the engine from 40 to 27 horsepower to make it more suitable for younger drivers or sprint tracks.
