Sera Signs With Sports Management Agency

David Sera has signed a multi-year deal with sports management agency Southside Promotions.

The move is yet another step the current Australian Champion and World Rotax #2 has taken to try and forge a career in car racing.

Despite his talent and results, the 23-year old Victorian's progression to car racing has been difficult, thanks to that eternal struggle in motorsport: funding.

Sera is adamant that with professional representation and a solid support network, he can make the transition, his focus being on a career in the V8 Supercars ‘main game,’ or potentially some overseas racing.

“I’m excited to be working with Southside Promotions and further my career from karts however I’d still like myself being involved in karting via the Arrow team... more as a coach and adviser for young up and coming drivers.”

Southside Promotions is a relatively young sports management business, working with some of the worlds best motorcycle riders such as Freestyle Motocross and X Games Champion Cam Sinclair and 2009 Australian Superbike Champion Josh Waters. The agency successfully introduced Rockstar Energy Drink to the Holden Racing Team stable in 2011 and with it, came the addition of four-wheeled motorsport to their folio.

Managing Director Adam Bailey said working with Sera is a huge opportunity and his humble background makes him the hottest property in up and coming driving talent.

“What attracted me to working with Dave is not only his obvious talent, but that he has had to work incredibly hard to achieve his current standing in the racing world.

"I truly believe that this work ethic and appreciation for his family, sponsors and the opportunities in front of him, will make him a true champion in the future.

“It is our aim to work with Dave to bring him the support he needs to reach his full potential. As soon as we can get him on the track, I’m certain he’ll take care of the rest.”

“I’m not 100% sure what direction we’ll be going as yet (for 2012), it’s literally a day by day work in progress at the moment, but hopefully we’ll have some good news soon!” Sera said.

Since he started racing in 1996, Sera is Australia’s second most successful karter of all-time with 12 national championships and an incredible 44 state championships.

Last year, in addition to placing second in the Rotax World Finals in Dubai, Sera won his fifth consecutive Australian Title, the Florida Winter Tour in the USA and the New Zealand ‘North Island’ Championships to boot, earning the notoriety as Auto Action Magazine’s ‘Go Karter of the Year for 2011.’
