A trio of Yatala based drivers will make the long trek south this week to contest the 2012 CIK Stars of Karting Series opener in Adelaide, February 24 to 26.  Troy Bretherton, Adam Mercer and Ben Stewart are anxious for the new season to get underway after weeks of testing.

Above: Yatala based karting trio Troy Bretherton, Adam Mercer and Ben Stewart are in Adelaide this weekend for the opening round of the CIK Stars of Karting Series.

Gold Coast’s Troy Bretherton will again compete in the elite 6 speed Pro Gearbox Australian Karting class, after finishing 19th in last year’s ultra competitive 5 round national series.  Newly appointed importer of Energy Racing Karts Adam Graham, who raced for the factory Energy team in Europe during 1999, is excited about Troy competing in an Energy Racing Kart this season.  Bretherton’s TM125cc powered entry will be sponsored by Housing Investments Australia, Pacific Kartsport, Ogio gear bags and Go-Pro cameras.

The Yatala based duo of Mercer and Stewart will take to the track in the inaugural IAME Leopard Challenge introduced for the first time into the 2012 CIK Stars of Karting Series.  Mercer, who works at Pacific Kartsport, lives in Brisbane.  His 125cc water-cooled IAME X30 engine will power his Italian made Kosmic chassis.  Mercer’s entry is supported this year by Just Cuts Australia - Style Cuts for Everybody and Pacific Kartsport.

Gold Coast’s Ben Stewart, who is also competing in the inaugural 2012 IAME Leopard Challenge will also front the starter with a 125cc water-cooled IAME X30 engine and Italian made Kosmic chassis.  The Griffith University Civil Engineering student is taking time out from study to compete and is sponsored this year by KTEQ Trailer Rentals, Pacific Kartsport and Coast Wide Car Carriers.

All 3 of these Yatala drivers’ karts are prepared locally with meticulously care at their Yatala Enterprise Area workshop.  The drivers’ engines are all geared up by JT Motorsport, also located at Yatala.

Engine Builder Jon Target will not only be keeping a close watching brief over their own 3 team drivers throughout the weekend, but will also be furthering the JT Motorsport / Pacific Kartsport technical alliance with Yatala’s two Harrington Doyle Racing Pro Light entries, which will be pitted directly across from the Yatala Trio Team in Adelaide.
