It is with sadness we hear of the passing of David Whincup. Father of Jamie and brother of former Sports Sedan racer Graeme, Dave was a regular at the kart track and staunch supporter of Jamie's racing.

Labelled by Jamie as "my best mate", the duo would head out to the kart track come rain, hail or shine in the early stages of his racing career, particularly at their home track of Humevale, Northeast of Melbourne, and simply cut laps.

He passed away Sunday due to consequences of cancer treatment.
