CRG Team Report From WSK Master Series Opener

CRG can be very satisfied with the results achieved at the first round of the WSK Master Series 2012. On the circuit of La Conca, known as a showcase for the most effective karts, performance met expectations both in KF and in KZ. Tiene won in KF2, Lennox-Lamb also achieved victory in KZ2, and Mirko Torsellini managed to put his CRG-Maxter onto the podium in KZ1, a class that is becoming increasingly competitive.
At the Winter Cup, where temperatures were very low, it was hard to make a clear assessment and avoid jumping to conclusions. But now the WSK Master Series opening round can be rightly considered an important test at the start of the new season. In any case, the CRG group makes were at the front in both meetings!
KZ1: Top 3 for Pex and Torsellini
Jorrit Pex, one of CRG Netherlands drivers, played a major role in KZ1. After securing pole, he fought relentlessly for victory. Second in Final 1 on Saturday, he missed an opportunity to get on the podium in Final 2 the following day due to an accident on the last lap! Mirko Torsellini showed beyond doubts the talent of CRG youngsters (he set the best lap time in Saturday's final) by taking over and claiming a much coveted third place in Final 2. CRG-Maxter-Tecsav drivers achieved an excellent group result with Jonathan Thonon and Davide Forè in 5th and 6th respectively. These two champions moved up from 15th and 12th, and Thonon also set the fastest lap time!
KZ2: Victory for Lennox-Lamb
After finishing second in Final 1, and dropping back to 9th after a penalty, the British driver Jordon Lennox-Lamb took his revenge by brilliantly dominating Final 2. The CRG driver posted the best lap time twice behind the wheel of a Maxter prepared in the workshops of the factory.
KF2: Double Success for Tiene
Felice Tiene is now leader of the WSK Master Series thanks to his consecutive victories after the heats, in the pre-final and then in the final race. Showing a broad smile on the podium after this near-perfect weekend, the Italian praised the qualities of his CRG chassis and of his BMB engines prepared by KVS. Luke Varley (England) and Kittitat Vongprai (Thailand) had more difficult, but rewarding, races.
Tom Joyner, on a LH manufactured by CRG and motorised by BMB, claimed the third step of the podium.
KF3: Near Podium Finish for Palou
After showing his remarkable skills at the Winter Cup in Lonato, Alex Palou confirmed his talent in Southern Italy. Constantly running at a pace equivalent to the top drivers, he finished second in one of the two pre-finals and then concluded with an excellent fourth place in the final. The performance of his American team mate Santino Ferrucci, who finished heats in 4th and 5th place in this very competitive class, is also worth mentioning.
