FA Kart Victorian Open Report

press release

FA Fernando Alonso kart showed sheer domination at the 2012 Victorian Open Championships held at the Beckley Park Raceway Geelong

In Clubman Super Heavy it was Scott Simpson who secured pole in Fridays qualifying. Scott went on to dominate the meeting taking a clean sweep of all the heat races, pre final and final. Home in 2nd was FA Kart driver Ben McKinlay who came home very strong in an exciting finish for the minor placings

In the Leopard Light category it was FA Kart driver Michael Carless who stopped the clocks quickest in Friday's qualifying, Carless setting a blistering pace in his FA Victory chassis. Lacking experience, Michael had a disappointing opening heat, but redeemed himself in heat two to take the win from fellow FA driver James Sera. Sera took the win in the pre final, and also took out Sunday afternoon's final, never being headed.

Thomas Randle chipped away in the Junior Clubman category all weekend. After not qualifying where he would have liked, Randle showed plenty of speed during the heat races to start the Final from grid 3 in his FA TS30. After making a great start, Thomas found himself tangled up with another driver putting him back to 6th position on lap 10. Randle showed plenty of maturity, kept a level head, and slowly clawed his way back to the front, taking the lead with 3 laps to go and was never being headed from there.

James Sera topped the time clocks in Friday's Qualifying showing the speed of his FA TS30 putting himself on Pole position by 2 tenths in the tough Clubman Light field. James took out the opening heat, but could only manage 2nd in the 2nd heat and pre final. Starting off grid 2 for Sunday's final, Sera took an early lead and by mid race found himself dicing with young star Joseph Mawson. One-and-a-half laps from home disaster struck for Sera when his chain fell off, therefore not registering a result.

FA Kart won 3 out of the 14 classes at the 2012 Victorian Open Sprint Kart Championships, making it the 2nd most winning chassis of the meeting.

James Sera would like to congratulate all the FA drivers that won, and also thank all the FA Drivers for supporting FA Kart
