U18 World Championship Update

from cikfia.com

Although we have to wait until 6-8 July to get the first results from the track, the “U18” World Championship is already under way. After the registration of 18 chassis makes, the CIK-FIA is currently receiving the Drivers’ entries, which are open until 9 April 2012 (at midnight, Swiss time).

The first tendencies again show a large panel of nationalities, and for the moment the most chosen brands are Zanardi, FK, ART Grand Prix and Intrepid.

The marking operations regarding chassis and accessories – limited in number and type – will begin next month and require the visit of each factory by a CIK-FIA Official.

This marking system aims at freezing any technological evolution during the championship and therefore at limiting costs.

An estimation of the budget necessary for the U18 World Championship can be seen below:

The prices listed on this document are the so-called “fixed costs” and do not include travelling expenses, the possible retribution of the Mechanic, or costs involved by broken equipment. As a reminder, the engines, all of the WKE/FIM make (supplied by Parolin), are placed at the disposal of all the Competitors on a free basis and allocated by drawing lots.

Unlike in previous editions, the tyres will no longer be offered to the Drivers but will be available at the attractive price of 148€ per set. Thanks to the grants offered by LeCont and Panta (E10 fuel) within the framework of the exclusive supply of their products, the U18 Championship will benefit by television coverage, the detail of which will shortly be revealed.

Finish bonuses will also be allocated to the most deserving Drivers, as prize money from LeCont and in kind from Parolin and Panta.
