Vortex Present Their 4-Stroke Kart Engine

Vortex unveiled their 4-stroke kart engine last month, the 250cc 4T. This follows their earlier announcement earlier this year of tie-up with engine manufacturer Tech-F1.

The engine offers three power outputs - 38hp (28nm torque, 34mm carb, 13,200rpm), 35.5hp (27Nm, 30mm carb, 13,000rpm) and 21hp (22Nm, 20mm carb, 12,500rpm).

Environmental concerns (noise, pollution) are the main positives of a 4-stroke engine, but they create a lot of technical complexity with all the extra moving parts that (a) wear out, and (b) require checking for compliance. Of course, 4-stroke is going head-to-head with Direct Injected 2-stroke, see HERE.

“We embarked on the new path of the new 4 stroke engine with strong passion, supported by the know-how that could make us face this new adventure" Vortex Manager Giovanni Corona said.

"The acquisition of this project is allowing us to largely widen the range of karting engines. No other manufacturers are able to offer such a varied range of products addressed to a homogeneous public of drivers. The 4 stroke engine has been added and completes our already winning range of engines”
