Tough Run On Finals Day In Germany

After excellent showings in qualifying and strong heat results, the pre-finals turned into disaster for the two Australians (Pierce Lehane and Joseph Burton-Harris) in Germany last night at the Rotax MAX Euro Challenge round.

Lehane (Alonso) was set to start off the front row, but get to turn a lap, forcing a rear of grid start for the Final. Despite starting 34th, he charged his way to 11th, finihing only 10 seconds off the race leader after 18 laps. Edward Brand (Formula K) took victory over Harrison Scott (Tony Kart) and Philip Morin (Alonso).

Fifteenth after the heats, Burton-Harris (Formula K) dropped to 26th in the pre-final, then DNFd the Final to be classified 31st - not a representative result considering he was second fastest in qualifying. Intrepid drivers enjoyed a 1-2 with Janneau Esmeijer beating home Sam Schippers, Lando Norris (Tony Kart) third.

Xen De Ruwe (Formula K) won DD2 ahead of Mathias Detige (Tony Kart) and Lucas Orrock (Kosmic).
