Cleansweeps At Winton SuperkartsTweetpress release While the big banger 250 karts were thin on the ground it was made up by the enthusiastic entries of 125 cc gearbox and non gearbox karts. Though the result sheet shows many DNF’s, most of the 250’s were in fact fine tuning and running in engines for their forthcoming Championship event at Phillip Island. Ex AFL footballer Jason Akermanis ran his 250 at our club round and by all accounts had a great day driving Superkarts.
In the Barry Plant Real Estate 125 Gearbox karts, it was interstate visitor Sam Zavaglia who took the honours driving his stock Honda from Matt Bass also in a stock Honda and Rod Conn in his Stockman Honda. For the rest it was a bit of a mixed bag but again who was hedging for what they had ahead of the Australian Championships? In the hold-onto-life Non-Gearbox Lights, it was a clean sweep for Russ Occhipinti ahead of Tom Cooper and Peter Strangis. Lastly onto the Oz Design Nunawading Non gearbox Heavies, and it was all about National Champion Steve Milner and Paul Rodgers, with Mike Godsell chasing hard for the remaining podium position. The next round of the club series will be held at the Phillip Island Grand prix circuit on June 23rd.
