Festival State Cup, Round 3

from Nathan Burgess

A wet week and even more forecast rain threatened to dampen the spirits of competitors at last weekends Festival State Cup Round 3, hosted by the Dublin Go Kart Club. Fortunately though only one short rain shower came. The day saw more than 400 racing laps plus carby sessions completed on one of the shortest days of the year.

The racing across all of the 14 classes was tight and the all points count format meant that many of the classes could still be won by multiple competitors in the final heat.

The finals did not disappoint with the closest and fastest racing we had seen all day. The weather conditions turned to near perfection and lap records for the Monarto ‘B’ track began tumbling, some by almost half a second.

The Dublin Go Kart Club would like to send out a huge thank you to all of the members and even non-members that helped to get the facility ready for the race meeting. And a thank you also to the officials and volunteers that made the day possible.
