With less than eight weeks to go the countdown has begun for the Mount Isa Go Kart Club and their chance to host the ultimate in dirt track go kart racing, the Australian Karting Association National Dirt Track Championships.

Racers of all ages, from all edges of the country, will converge on the Mount Isa Go Kart Club to experience three days of action packed racing and outback hospitality at its best.

Comprising of official practice and six formal racing rounds, the National Championships will see racers battle it out for the coveted ‘green plate’; the crowning glory of the go-karting world; a number plate symbolizing a racers top seed in the Nation.

Categories will include eight classes from juniors to seniors with spectators encouraged to come along and partake in all of the thrills and excitement the weekend promises to offer.

Nominations for competitors are now open with Mount Isa Go Kart Club, President Shane Thirlwall encouraging all classes of karters to take part.

“Whether you’re a dirt or bitumen track racer there’s nothing more exciting than pitting your skills against something new or snagging yourself a national title" he said.

"The Mount Isa Go Kart track is a great course and with a long list of improvements completed over the last few months it’s looking better than ever.

"We know full well it’s not every day you get to host such an esteemed event so the Club is pulling out all stops to show competitors and spectators a weekend not to forget.”
