Sun Shines On Alan Hann MemorialTweetfrom Victor Maastricht Central Coast Speedway Kart Club held the inaugural Alan Hann Memorial meeting on a glorious winters day on Sunday. Alan was the first President of our club, and many of the members back then were in attendance in his honour. It was great to have Karen, his wife, and so many of the Hann family, their friends and acquaintances at the track paying their respects. Thanks also to Pat Challen, Tanya Bailey and many others for helping organise sponsors, commemorative gifts, trophies and various tributes on the day.
There were a large number of drivers that travelled from Sydney, Newcastle and further afield to Gosford for this event. Alan loved all forms of speedway racing, and we have had many special events over the years due to his continued efforts of ideas and event sponsorships. Many people remember the “King of the Hill” events at Somersby, and more recently “King of the Dirt” meetings held at Gosford. As our club continues to grow, we plan to run more special events like these. As well as our regular classes offered, we also had Alan’s favoured class, the Clubman Over 40’s. So with around 80 entries in total for the day, this was one of our biggest events so far this year!
All the classes had good numbers, with some great close racing, which was also watched by one of our biggest crowds for the year. So a big "thankyou!" to everyone for making this a special day for the Hann family. Results: Cadets – 1st - Luke Geeering, 2nd-Liam Walker, 3rd-Mitchell Pyne. Feature – Luke Geering Junior Alan Hann Memorial Top Points Scorer – Jake Baines
A special thanks to our race day sponsors – Angels Roofing Accessories, Wayne Winslade, V8Max.com, Tumbi Wholesale Meats, Oversteer Race Centre, NSW Lightning Sprints, The Bailey Family, Teearn Lynch & Coastal Driveline Specialists. We’ll see you all again at next years memorial meeting !
