Eighty of New South Wales’ top kart racers will take to the Eastern Creek International Karting Raceway in a special nighttime spectacular on Saturday August 25.

The Karting Showdown, to be contested following the day’s V8 Supercar action at the adjacent Sydney Motorsport Park, will see a grid of 40 drivers in each of the Junior National and Senior Clubman categories under lights.

Drivers in both categories will receive free entry for the event, the first 40 entries that are confirmed will be eligible to take their place on the grid, with a maximum of 5 places being placed on a reserve list in order of entries received.

“With the V8 Supercars returning to the complex, we believe it is a great opportunity to put on a special event where we can highlight some of the young talent coming through the karting ranks,” said Eastern Creek Karts’ Garry Holt.

“The Karting Showdown will see up to 40 of the best junior and senior drivers taking to the track under lights on the Saturday night, while chasing some great prizemoney that will be on offer.”

Holt has also thrown the Gauntlet out to the Motosport Media and V8 Supercar Team Managers to tackle the Eastern Creek International Karting Raceway in a Challenge as a part of the Karting Showdown.

“It’s common knowledge that karting is where the V8 Supercar drivers start their careers but the Challenge will see those personalities from other areas of motorsport pitted against each other on the kart track,” said Holt.

Details of how drivers can enter the Karting Showdown will be announced shortly, while contestants lining up in the Media and Team Manager Challenge will be announced as they are confirmed.
