The Zuncker Electrical At Dromeside Raceway

from Darren Ey

Great weather helped for some close racing right across all the fields at the Dromeside Raceway, bundaberg, on the weekend.

Cadets 7 to 11 years 90 Kg - A good field of Cadets gave us some great racing right through out the field. Benjamin Deissler was too good and took out all 4 races with the next 4 places being fought out right until the last lap of the final between Declan James, Max Wilcox, Taylar Pearson & Bradley Balchin. Taylar Pearson had a DNF in the prefinal after head mechanic (Dad) didn't secure the air box correctly only to have it fall off during the race and put her out of contention for the day. 1st -  Benjamin Deissler, 2nd - Declan James, 3rd - Max Wilcox.

Rookies 11 to 13 years 105 Kg - Only a small field of Rookies took to the track but Jayden Gollan and Jack Bussey put on a great race in the final with Jayden taking out the first 3 races it looked like he would make it a clean sweep in the final but Bussey had other ideas and what a race they gave us with Bussey taking the final by the smallest of margins.1st -  Jayden Gollan, 2nd - Jack Bussey, 3rd - Leyton Ey.

Junior National Light 12 to 16 Years 120 Kg - This was the biggest field of the day and these young blokes didn't disappoint with it being no place for the faint hearted in the middle of this field. Jason Bright took out all 4 races and back in the pack it was tough going for in form James Litzo struggling to come to grips with his new Top Kart and new comers fresh from Rookies Lachlan Page & Joseph Black letting the older boys know that they will be a force to be reckoned with in coming meetings.  1st -  Jason Bright, 2nd - Ben Wilcox, 3rd - Jordi Marcon.

Junior National Heavy 12 to 16 Years 140 kg - Once again the two front runners Connor Robertson and Cody Ey went toe to toe with Ey taking heat one by a small margin and again taking the lead in heat 2 only to loose a rear wheel (thanks Dad) and have a DNF which ended his day. Having to start back in the field for the pre final and final, Ey couldn't quite bridge the gap to get to Connor. The ever improving Tristan Stricklen could not quite mix it with front runners but had the rest of the field covered for third. 1st -  Connor Robertson, 2nd - Cody Ey, 3rd - Tristan Stricklen

Qld Sportsman Light - Only a small field of lights took to the track and once again Troy Loeskow was a class above the rest with Stan Peterson, Sharon Jenke and Jayden Coop fighting it out for the other two places on the podium. While our only lady driver pushed hard all day she could only manage 3rd.  New comer Ryan Demarco really struggled all day to find enough pace to mix it with the front runners. 1st-  Troy Loeskow, 2nd - Stan Peterson, 3rd - Sharon Jenke.

Qld Sportsman Heavy - Qld champ Clinton Marcon knew he had his work cut out after race 1 with Andrew Pearson hunting him down from the rear of the field to take heat 1. Heat 2 was close again but Marcon came back to take heat 2 by a narrow margin with Rylee Walton in third place never a real threat to the front runners. Pearson came out blazing in the pre final and blew Marcon away which looked like the final would be a cake walk for Pearson but Clinton made some changes to his kart and came out in the final and took the lead from Pearson who had no answer for Marcon and never looked like passing him although they raced nose to tail for the whole race. At the end of the day it was Marcon taking the honours on a count back.   1st- Clinton Marcon, 2nd - Andrew Pearson, 3rd - Rylee Walton.

Qld Sportsman Super Heavy - In Form Simon Obst had no answers for Rob Richards in the first 2 heats with Richards taking the first 2 races easily. After some soul searching, Obst came out and took the Pre Final & Final from Rob Richards & Malcolm Pohle but it wasn't enough to take the overall win from Richards who has had to play second fiddle to Obst for most of the year. 1st - Rob Richards, 2nd - Simon Obst, 3rd - Malcolm Pohle.
