David Sera Returns To Karts For Rotax Nationals

press release

He is one of the greatest and most famous Karters Australia has ever produced and for David Sera, a return to the seat at the 2012 Rotax Nationals will have one focus, another National title to add his already long list of achievements.

Rotax Light is the highest subscribed and one of the most competitive categories for the event and Sera has this firmly in his mind leading into the event.

“This is only my third karting event for the year, so as such I am slightly down on Karting fitness however racing in Rotax is one of the most enjoyable things I have done in my career,” said Sera, right.

Following his start at Pro Tour Todd Rd in January, David also took part in the New Zealand National Championships for Rotax before joining Formula Ford full time with Minda Motorsport, a move that is continuing to require focus and dedication to succeed.

“I have enjoyed my Formula Ford experience immensely,” Sera stated, “you are always learning and the concept of driving the car is something I am going to continue to work hard on in testing.”

The Dubbo Kart track is one that presents many challenges to drivers with tight hairpin corners and fast flowing straights requiring ultimate composure to succeed.

“It is a true drivers track and is most definaitly one my favourites throughout the country,” the Victorian said.

Entering the 2012 Rotax Nationals places additional weight on the shoulders of David Sera and that is in relation to his chance to make it six National titles in a row in the one category, and seven in total with New South Wales’ Hayden McBride interrupting the 23 year olds run of success in 2006.

David does however affirm that his title chase will be no easy feat with some front runners around him having vastly more seat time in 2012 throughout the Rotax Pro Tour season.

“I see drivers such as (Pierce) Lehane (NSW), (Joseph) Mawson (NSW), (Tyler) Greenbury (QLD), (Daniel) Rochford (VIC) and (Joshua) DeMaio (VIC) as my true challengers, their consistent success throughout the year will ensure I have to fight for the win,” Sera concluded.

Entries for the 2012 Rotax Nationals can be accepted up to Friday 24th August and supplementary regulations and entry forms are available here.
