Tasmanian Junior Off To Scotland

press release

Tasmanian kart racer Liam James O’Connor will be flying the Tasmanian and Australian flags in the UK as he goes head to head with the best of Scottish and English racers in September 2012.

Leaving in early September Liam O’Connor will be racing at the West of Scotland Kart Club (www.wskc.co.uk ) the starting club of Scottish motorsport champions such as David Coulthard, Dario Franchitti, Allan McNish, and current F1 star Paul di Resta. The Summerlee Open event is one of the most prestigious in the Scottish calendar and attracts racers from across the UK.

Liam has been racing in Australia for the last 3 years and has gain much experience and success in local and interstate events during his career to date and hopes that this will be the next step in his chances to race internationally.

The local karter has worked very hard to study the karts and track in Scotland and the opportunity to work with a professional kart team at the event will enable him to get up to speed very quickly against the completion.

The 12 year old has been given special dispensation by UK authorities to race and along with the fantastic support of the go-karting community here in Tasmania and his wonderful sponsor group who have made this possible for him. He hopes that this may lead in the future, more of our Tasmanian racers being able to racing both nationally and internationally.

With thanks to our wonderful family and friends and our sponsor group who allow us to promote them and Tasmania.
