Kiwi #2 Joins Pacific Kartsport for Rotax Nationals

The 2012 Rotax Nationals kicked off in Dubbo today, and the excitement is certainly buzzing amongst reigning Champions and those vying for positions at the World Finals in Portugal, however there are eight New Zealand drivers that are sure to add to a true Trans-Pacific battle for line honours.

One of those is currently ranked NZ #2 in Rotax Light, 18yo New Zealander, Daniel Connor who will join the Yatala based Pacific Kartsport Team for this weekend’s Australian Titles racing at the Lincoln County Raceway on the Newell Highway, Dubbo, plus other selected Pro Tour events in the future.

After only a short 4 years in competition Karting and with an already impressive list of NZ Club Championships, a national Title and strong results in the New Zealand Rotax Max Challenge Series to his credit, Daniel has focussed in on just two key goals in 2012.  The first is to win a trip to the Rotax Wold Finals in Portugal to represent New Zealand, and the second is to win the 2012 Australian Rotax Nationals in the water-cooled 125cc two stroke non shifting engine, Rotax light class.

Entries for this weekend’s 2012 Rotax Nationals in Dubbo currently sit at in excess of 170, featuring two oversubscribed categories being Rotax Light and Junior Max.  Adding to the excitement, heat races for these classes will need to be broken down into groups to select the final 40 drivers for the 30 lap title race. The Nationals will also feature the largest field of DD2 entries ever seen on the Pro Tour with over 30 karts across both DD2 and DD2 Masters categories.

Joining Daniel in the Pacific Kartsport (PKS) tent for this national event will also be four other Rotax Light Aussie PKS team mates and fellow competitors Adam Mercer, Luke Baldry, Troy Morrissey; and youngster Brock Plumb, competing in his first senior race meeting.

The already strong PKS Team line will be additionally complimented by Troy Bretherton, a consistent top 10 runner throughout the 2011/2012 season competing in the DD2 class and the Rotax Heavy duo of Scott Howard and Jared Neinert.
