West Australian Dirt Kart Titles

press release

The 2012 Shire of Wagin WA Dirt Kart Title held at the Great Southern Kart Club in Wagin and with 160+ competitors in the pits it was surely going to be a tough affair.

With rain Wednesday & Thursday leading into the event, organizers were worried about the effect on the track, but the hard working GSKC track crew gave it their all and manicured a cracker of a race circut.

Interstate practice was held on the Friday for 5 hours as the visitors turned some laps on the tricky little Wagin race track and some of the fast times were put down by Lisa Walker & Ben Brown as well as Wade Ingerson & Shane Howard from Roxby Dows in SA.

The Saturday morning 0 degree tempreture surely got race fans up on their toes early in the morning, but by the time racing commenced the sun had risen and the sky was blue as a fitting tribute to a great mate of all dirt karters,
Russell Riches, was held as a part of the opening ceremony and all present at the Wagin track stood together on the main straight as good mate Dave Alquist did a lap to cellebrate "Racing for Russ".

Some highlights from the weekend was the dominance of drivers from the host club; Neill Morrell took victory in the angry old mens class the Statesmens, Tayla Ryan won the Junior Lights & Adrian Haywood took the victory in the KT
Twins class.

Great Southern Kart Club Member James Inglis was on fire all weekend, James cleaned up in the Outlaw class, KT Mediums class where with one lap to go he put a move on leader Ben Brown to send the Great Southern Track into a frenzy as he took the checker flag & to round out a great weekend he also secured a second place in the 200 Opens.

Another dominant weekend also for the Team BCM Family picking up 6 plates out of a possible 9, a great effort.

We move on to the Dirt Trackers Kart in 2013 in late October for the next WA title. Dirt karting in WA is at an all time high and I cant wait to see where the sport is in 12 months time.
