Arrow's Tasmanian Championship Success

Arrow Karts continued its amazing run of success at National and State Championship level in 2012. Arrow drivers were successful in securing another five blue plates at the recent Tasmanian State Open Championships. Arrow Karts have now won thirty seven Blue plates in 2012.
Arrow Karts & drivers had success in Junior National Light, Junior National Heavy, Junior Clubman, Clubman Light & Clubman Heavy. In addition we had numerous podium results across all the classes on offer. Once again in both the Junior National classes Arrow karts again achieved a clean sweep of the top five positions. This is the sixth time in 2012 that we have achieved this fantastic result at a State Championship level.

Junior National Light, Hidden Valley Karts Supplies/ J & A Tuning driver Bryce Fullwood absolutely dominated the field all weekend to win every heat, pre final and the final to cap off a great year for the Northern Territorian.

Junior National Heavy was won by A1 Engines driver Zac Phillips ahead of Arrow drivers Damon Strongman and Morgan Jakobovski. The pacesetter all week was WA Karratha Karts/KTEQ rentals driver Nick Rowe who qualified on pole, won the heat’s and pre final but a last lap collision left Nick on the sidelines contemplating what could have been. The incident allowed Phillips to claim a great victory in a very competitive and quality field.

The Junior Clubman field was full of quality and local driver Jeremiah Sheenan drew first blood by placing his kart on pole but it was once again the West Australian journeyman Nick Rowe in his Arrow X2/KTEQ Rentals kart that dominated the heat races, pre final and the final. Rowe won the final by over 5 seconds with fellow Arrow driver Matthew McLean third.

Clubman Light was a very interesting race with four real potentials for the race win. Arrow driver’s Ben Stewart,Brock Plumb and Jordan Nicolaou plus Exprit driver Pierce Lehane. The heat races were won by Plumb & Lehane but it was young Plumb that grabbed the advantage to win the pre final and give himself a chance of victory. Both Plumb & Stewart got an early gap on the field with Ben Stewart taking the lead at the start. Brock Plumb made his move late in the race but it wasn’t enough and Ben Stewart went onto win the blue plate in his X2 Kart.

Clubman Heavy was another all Arrow affair with Mitch Evans securing pole and winning the 1st Heat. Shamick Racing / J & A driver Leigh Nicolaou won the second heat and pre final to start on pole for the final with J & A team mate Mark Dorbolo starting the final third behind Evans. We didn’t see any positional changes in the final but it was a hard fought battle between the three Arrow drivers. Nicolaou went onto win his third Clubman Heavy State title for 2012 and fourth Blue plate in 2012 to cap off a great year of racing.
