Evans & Van Gisbergen Enjoy Success On ArrowTweet
press release
The annual Jon Wright Memorial, incorporating the Mt Wellington Kart Club invitational event, had two superstars of motorsport competing in 2012 - current World GP3 champion Mitch Evans in Rotax Light & V8 Supercar front runner Shane Van Gisbergen in Rotax Heavy. Both drivers were up against New Zealand’s finest Rotax racers at the event which celebrates karting identity and former owner of Right Karts NZ, Jon Wright, who passed away in 2003.
Both Mitch Evans & Shane Van Gisbergen showed their class by setting the quickest times in qualifying to secure pole position. Van Gisbergen won the Jon Wright Memorial race in Rotax Heavy using his trusty Arrow AX9 B-Max and also secure 3rd place overall for the weekend’s racing, which is an incredible effort considering the limited amount of karting he's done over the last five years.
Mitch Evans was also super competitive across the weekend and won two of the five races to also finish 3rd overall for the event.
