Busy Year of Top Level Karting for Perth-Based Stanley Motorsport

press release 25 February 2015

Perth based Stanley Motorsport will have a busy 2015 with local kart drivers Jake Klarich and Robert Hooper not only contesting the 2015 West Australian KZ Series but also taking on the 2015 Australian Karting Championships which will see the pair race against Australia's best over the next six months in the five round national series.

For Robert, his time in karting has been relatively short having only commenced racing karts in 2012, achieving some good results in the Junior class but 2013 would see him move into the Senior classes racing for Stanley Motorsport. This would see him achieve some noteworthy results including a second place finish in the Dash for Cash at Kalgoorlie late in 2013.

During the 2014 season Robert would achieve a fifth in the Western Australian State Titles running in the 125cc X30 Heavy class as well as taking victory in the Western Cup series, a four round series run across Western Australia, again in the 125cc class. Robert’s rise in karting has been a rapid one now seeing him racing the 150kph six speed 125cc KZ class karts. In his first race in the KZ kart in the opening round at Albany of the WA KZ Series Robert would finish an excellent twelfth.

For team-mate Jake, his time in karting has been somewhat longer than Robert's but despite only being nineteen, he has had extensive experience not only racing here in Australia but also overseas. Jake was the 2014 Western Australian KZ series champion. Jake's 2015 season got off to a fantastic start when he was to take a dominate victory in the first round of the Western Australian KZ Series in Albany late in January.

The National championships will see both Jake and Robert race under the Stanley Motorsport banner, with Jake competing in the KZ class while Robert will be in the KA TaG 125cc engine class, both racing the Italian TBKart chassis.

Stanley Motorsport is a new team to the Western Australian karting scene run by Tim Stanley who imports the Italian TBKart chassis. For Stanley Motorsport their rise to the top levels of karting in Western Australia has been rapid after taking sixteen year old Robert on board as their team driver in late 2013. Now the team is looking forward to competing in the National championships with expectations of achieving strong results in the series with both Jake and Robert having their sights set on the 2015 Australian Championship in their respective classes.

Both Jake and Robert have commenced their pre-season testing for both the Western Australian and National series and are confident about the Championships ahead of them in 2015. For Jake his move to Stanley Motorsport only came about after a period of testing over the Christmas break with the opening race result proving that his choice to go with this new team was well judged.

Round One of the Karting Australia Championship will commence at Todd Road, Melbourne on Friday 3rd April, finishing in Geelong Victoria in the last weekend of October.

The next round of the Western Australian KZ Series will be at the Bunbury Kart club on the 11th and 12th April 2015.
