  • The weekend of Arpil 17 to 19 is a unique one for Australian Karting. • Here's something for the novelty file: a 'flat pack" wooden go kart. A company in the United States is looking for funding to launch production of plywood karts. The "PlyFly" comes in three boxes and can be assembled in one day. It includes all parts (wooden rack-and-pinion steering, anyone?) including a small petrol engine and foam-filled wheels. More on the Jalopnik.com site HERE.

  • The April 5 race meeting at Canberra has been brought forward a week and will now run on March 28. This is a one-day Saturday event to avoid conflict with other NSW race meetings on the Sunday.

  • Thousands of fans passed by the combined CAMS/Karting Australia display at the Clipsal 500 on the weekend. "South Australia is set for a significant influx of new members after the sport gained some significant interest during the Clipsal 500 V8 Supercars event in Adelaide" Karting Australia published. The display featured one of the new Formula 4 cars plus four karts (Vortex Cadet, IAME KA100 Reedjet, TaG 125 and a KZ2). Karting will again be on show at the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix in Melbourne from March 12 to 15.
