DJM Race Team Report - Power Series 1

press release 10 March 2015

DJM Race Engineering had one of its most overall successful weekends to date at the opening round of the golden Power Series, with some great results overall from all classes.

Cody Donald and Fletcher Harris looked as though they were both going to take convincing wins in their final before Donald dropped a chain and Harris got taken out by some back marker traffic while leading the final. DJM Race Engineering mechanic and event commentator Mitchell McLellan rates Donald as one of the best karters in the country!

“Both boys did a great job. Cody is leading both the Victorian Country Series and the Victorian State Series and would be leading the Golden Powers if not for a dropped chain. Cody was having a fantastic final and looked a very good chance for the win".

Mclellan thought Harris, even though having a DNF in the final, had his best meeting to date. “Fletcher has only just moved up to the Cadet 12 class and was looking a great chance to win, unfortunately Fletcher had an incident in the final which took him out of contention but the weekend overall was a great success”.

Beau Harris, Jackson Rice, Gerry Westerveld and Nick Trebilcock all had great finals to start their 2015 with a bang! Beau Harris took the win in the Cadet 12 with Westerveld and Rice taking podiums in the final. Mclellan said the Junior brigade is something to seriously watch in the future! “All of the podium drivers did a great job in competitive classes! Beau did a fantastic job to take three wins out of four this weekend. For Gerry and Nick to round out the podium in Junior Light was a super result and Jackson had his best meeting to date by a long way to continue his continual development!"

Regan Clapham, Jake Coghill and Billy Westerveld ran top five all weekend in their respective classes. McLellan thought all four showed great pontenial for a bright 2015! “Regan and Jack both showed great pace after disappointing Saturdays. Regan and Jack had a great battle in the final both running top five and a great season in 2015 is looking promising! Billy ran top five all weekend but kart trouble in the final race ruined a fast and consistent weekend in a big field."

Anthony Whitwam in his new TaG Masters class ran at the back end out of the top ten showing continual improvement over the weekend. “Anthony has stepped into a new class and straight away showed competiveness. 2015 is a long year and he has plenty of room to move forward."

McLellan thought that, with DJM Race Engineering owner Dylan McLellan not being at the track due to work commitments, the team went fantastically. “Dylan would have been super happy with the overall result! The team did a fantastic job and the team performance is continuing to improve every meeting!"

DJM Race Engineering hopes the positive results continue and the 2015 seasons continues in a positive manner.
