O'Meara-Hunt One To Watch

press release 20 May 2015

Rianna O'Meara-Hunt will be one of the drivers to watch as the annual CRC Speedshow-sponsored Top Half kart series heads to Whangarei for the first time on Sunday.

After a breakthrough round win in the Formula Junior class at the opening round of this year's CRC Speedshow Top Half series at Tokoroa last month the talented teen makes the trip from her home in Wellington with a four point lead in the class points standings over the best of her male competitors, Auckland ace Matthew Payne.

Points-wise it is just as close in the other Junior age group classes, Vortex Mini ROK and Cadet ROK

Only two points separate first round winner Connor Davison from Fynn Osborne in Vortex Mini ROK and only three separate early season points leader Asten Addy and second-placed Logan Manson in Cadet ROK with third placed Kaden Probst a single point back in third.

In the Senior classes the racing was so close at the first round that there are points ties for first overall in two of the four classes, with Josh Hart from Palmerston North and Caleb Huston from Rotorua neck-and-neck in 125cc Rotax Max Light, and Jonathan Buxeda from Tuakau and Mitchell Beach from Hamilton the same in Open.

The KartSport Whangarei club has recently completed major track extensions/improvements at its Business Coaching NZ Raceway, paving the way for major regional series like the Top Half one to include it on its calendar for the first time.

For over 16 years now the interclub Top Half series has provided karters from Whangarei in the north to Tokoroa in the south the chance to broaden their experience by racing at new tracks against different drivers.

They’ve got every incentive to do so this year too, the prize pool including $6000 in CRC product prizes, $5,000 in cash prizes, $1600 in cash draws, MG tyre giveaways and an Arai SK-6 helmet valued at $849 complete with helmet bag and $1000 custom paintjob by Headcase Designs worth
 .
As well as individual glory for the drivers, the clubs also compete against each other for the prestigious Roundabout Kart Shop Trophy.

After this weekend's round the series heads to Hamilton in June and Auckland in July.
