Hanley & Lindh Lead Euro Round

  21 June 2015

Ben Hanley (Croc/TM) and Rasmus Lindh (Ricciardo/Parilla KFJ) are the top point scorers after the heats at the second round of the KF and KF-J European Championship at the PFI circuit in the UK.

Australia's Aaron Cameron and Oscar Piastri sit 37th and 42nd respectively in Junior KF. This puts them on grid 9 and 14 for tonight's Second Chance race.

Oscar Piastri - "Well today's heat races are probably best described as one ok result followed by three disasters. 10th in the first heat was ok to get things going. Next heat engine failed to start on the grid forcing me to start from the rear then was caught up in someone else's crash in turn 1, got clipped and spun for 17th. In the next heat a front bumper issue 20th, and then the final heat after yet another terrible start for our line I got pushed wide in turn five, back to last then recovered to 15th. So tomorrow I start 14th in the repecharge, need 6th or better to make the final. I'll be trying my best for my team and sponsors!"

Aaron Cameron - "Not the best day today I struggled in the first heat with how hard they raced and I lost a few places. Second heat I drove harder and finished in the same position I Started. In the third heat I finished good as well but in the last heat I got screwed over at the start and I was coming thorough the field and someone turned in on me and I went over then and bent the kart and stub axles. So we are now in second chance heat because of that and we have to finish in the top 6 otherwise our weekend is over. We start out of 9th and we know we are much faster than anyone else in this heat."

  • The finals will be live streamed tonight HERE

The final round of the Championship is at Kristianstad, Sweden, on 26 July.

event press release

Verschoor threatens Hanley in KF

After yesterday’s fastest time, the Dutch Richard Verschoor (Exprit-Vortex-Vega) confirms to be the most dangerous rival for the current leader of the Championship, Ben Hanley (Croc-TM-Vega). The Brit won three heats today, as well as Verschoor. The Prefinal is going to be absolutely gripping, with the two leaders filling the slots of the front row. Hanley is the pole-sitter, giving that he scored a second place as fourth result. Second row for the Spanish Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG-Parilla-Vega) and the Russian Alex Vartanyan (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega), winners of a heat each. The Danish Nicklas Nielsen (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) spoilt his excellent performance (he won two heats) with a retirement in the last race of the day. This issue made him drop back to the fifth row.

Lindh grabs the  pole in KF Junior

Today’s ten Heats had seven different winners. It is a further proof of how uncertain and thrilling this category is. Thanks to his three successes, the Swedish Rasmus Lindh (Ricciardo-Parilla-LeCont) will be the pole-sitter of the Prefinal. Next to him the British Clement Novalak, ahead of the Indonesian  Presley Martono (both on Tony Kart-Vortex-LeCont). The second row is completed by the Spanish Marta Garcia Lopez (FA Kart-T-LeCont): these last three drivers scored a victory each today. Third row for the Danish Christian Lundgaard (Tony Kart-Vortex-LeCont): he won twice, but did not perform well in the remaining two heats he took part in. The other winners of the day, with a success each, were the Danish Noah Watt and the Chinese Sun Yueyang (both on FA Kart-Vortex-LeCont). Tomorrow, the temperature on track is going to be high, but it is not going to be because of the weather
