  • After Tuesday's CAMS announcement that there will not be an Australian Superkart Championship next year (click HERE for more on that), we invited Superkarts Australia to make comment on the matter. "The directors of Superkarts Australia are yet to meet to fully consider the ramifications of the CAMS Statement" Superkarts Australia Board Chairman Phil Silcock informed KartSportNews. "Our primary focus is right now on the first round of the 2015 Australian Superkart Championships running at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend July 3rd-5th, and then beyond that the final round at Phillip Island in September. Our unequivical intention is for these Championship events to be successful and enjoyable for our competitors, teams, and spectators. Rather than make conclusive comments at the moment, SKA will consider the information in detail when received from CAMS, and then (consider) all of our options, and consider the stakeholders affected - our Members, the Superkart Clubs, and our team of directors and event administrators."

  • Eastern Lions Kart Club will be offering a TaG Restricted Super Heavy class at their July club race day. "We have had a few enquiries to run this class, so we are" the club informed KartSportNews. The traditional last-Sunday-of-the-month race meet is on the newly resurfaced track at Pucka. If you would like to run this class, contact the club's Race Entry Secretary via email on raceentry@elkc.com.au The club will be hosting the annual Junior Sprint Classic in September.

  • This weekend's third round of the Australian Kart Championship will once again feature live timing for all races plus live (and free to air!) video stream of all Sunday's action - something that F1 and V8s don't even do much of these days! The vision will be embedded to the Karting Australia (karting.net.au) and My Sport Live (mysportlive.com.au) websites. Live timing is through Race-Monitor (www.race-monitor.com) with a Live Timing Application for mobile devices.

  • Famed motorsport cartoonist John "Stonie" Stoneham will be a guest speaker at an Australian Masters Games dinner this year. Convenor of the karting section of the 2015 'Games, Steve Blee, says the two day meeting will have a pre-competition dinner with guest speaker (Stoneham), motorsport quiz and live music (courtesy of competitor Craig Henderson's band). "Stonie has been commenting on motorsport for more than 40 years through his cartoons in Auto Action, Unique Cars and his own books" Blee wrote on social media. "Stonie has worked closely with many of the big names of motorsport and no doubt has a few stories to tell. Remember, if you are thinking of racing at the Games, you will need to enter before August 7 and only at the Masters Games website - www.australianmastersgames.com." The Barossa club will host the meeting on October 3 and 4, the week prior to Bathurst.
