Benik Kart Claims ROK Cup USA

press release 25 September 2015

"1, 2 and 4 in Vortex Mini ROK"

With the ROK Cup USA finale taking place this past weekend at the Orlando Kart Center facility in Orlando, Florida, Team BENIK would be on the verge of securing series championships and invites to join Team USA at the ROK International Final in October.

After the final checkered flag had flown Sunday and after several spirited drives from the BENIK drivers, the Florida based squad would score a Championship and Vice Championship in Vortex Mini ROK and another Vice Championship result in Vortex Micro ROK.

“What a great way to end the ROK Cup USA series,” explained BENIK Kart Co-Founder Nick Mitchell. “We have proven that we are the chassis brand of choice in the Micro and Mini ROK classes and will now shift our focus to the ROK International Final in Italy and the SuperNationals in Las Vegas.”

In the Vortex Mini ROK division, Lachlan DeFrancesco would steal the show driving from 26th to third in the weekend’s main event. On the strength of the podium result and multiple race wins earlier in the ROK Cup USA season, DeFrancesco would claim the series title. Fellow BENIK Kart teammate Reece Gold would claim enough points to finish second in the championship chase with Tyler Maxson nearly making it a 1-2-3 for BENIK ending the season with a solid fourth place effort. Gold look poised to pounce on the championship as he had a great weekend in Orlando, as he was in the position to secure the top spot until a late race incident took him out of the running.

In the Vortex Micro ROK class, it was James Egozi that would fly the BENIK flag securing another Vice Championship for the team. Showing improvement during each and every race weekend, Egozi has used several classes and series to improve his skill and race craft and will be a threat for race wins in the very near future.
Mitchell added, “We will now shift our focus to Europe for two upcoming events before returning to the United States for the biggest karting event in the world, the Superkarts! USA Fikse Wheel Pro Tour SuperNationals.”

Next up for Team BENIK will be the Bridgestone Supercup October 9-11. The Florida based team will use this weekend as a test event for the ROK International Final that will take place the following weekend at the same South Garda Karting facility in Lonato, Italy. Three team BENIK drivers will make the trek to Europe as Derek Carmenate will join Florida Winter Tour champion Jonny Edgar as well as double championship winner Lachlan DeFrancesco.

The final event of the season will be the Superkarts! USA Fikse Wheels Pro Tour SuperNationals at the Las Vegas Convention Center November 18-22 where BENIK Kart currently leads the IAME Mini Swift point standings.
