  22 December 2015

A three round National Superkart Series will be held in 2016.

Superkarts Australia said the series is for the finest superkarts and drivers to contest top level racing at the best venues. All three rounds are CAMS permit events, but not all of them are on the Shannons Nationals card.

SKA wrote on Facebook the series conirmation comes after a lengthy period of negotiations with promoters and circuit management. It will cater for 250 International, 250 National and 125 National gearbox classes.

The 2016 Scedule:

  • Round 1 - NSW Sydney Motorsport Park GP Circuit, May 27-29th
  • Round 2 - VIC Phillip Island GP Circuit, September 9-11th
  • Round 3 - NSW Sydney Motorsport Park GP Circuit, November 11-13th

The racing format will be quite similar to previous SKA events, with some improvements to sporting aspects while maintaining good value for competitors.

Sporting Regulations, to be released in the New Year, will detail a revamped championship racing format. There will be provision for competitors to discard some poor race results and SKA intends to include some ‘level the playing field’ and cost saving initiatives.

There will again be an optional Championship Registration and Deposit Scheme for competitors that will operate similar to previous years - more details will be announced in the New Year.
