Yamaha Back AKRA

  25 January 2016

Yamaha will be the naming rights sponsor for AKRA's Easter Kart Nationals at Orange later this year.

Troy Boldy of the Australian Kart Racers Alliance told us he'd been speaking with Yamaha for some time about such a deal.

The AKRA Nationals will cater for a number of Yamaha-based senior and junior classes.

“Yamaha is delighted that Troy has put together AKRA and Yamaha’s karting customers still have somewhere they can test their skills on a national basis" said Yamaha Motor Australia's Adam Wolfenden.

"When Troy approached me I couldn’t say yes quick enough as Yamaha still believes there is a purpose for us to serve in the Karting industry, supporting events at the grass roots level.

"Yamaha would like to congratulate Troy on taking the initiative to create such an Alliance and provide Yamaha (owners) with somewhere to enjoy the exhilaration of karting competition once more.”

This will be the first time Yamaha has had much to do with Australian karting since additional engines were added to the Clubman and National classes in 2015.

The exact detail of the sponsorship, prizes etc has yet to be announced.
