anything karting from anywhere...

  • Sunraysia Speedway Karters in Mildura will be running the big-dollar "ALLPOWER Nationals" at the Olympic Park Speedway in Mildura on May 20-21. Organisers will allow karters from any sanctioning body to compete. "You can race on a Speedway Australia one day licence, providing you can supply at least 2 pieces of evidence that you have raced speedway or karts in the last 12 months" KartSportNews was advised.

Each Senior class has a minimum of $1000 prize money, plus trophies and other awards for other categories. Modified, Outlaw, and 125cc categories will be eleigible for the All Power feature. Standad Yamaha Clubmans will have their own Feature on the Friday night. There will also be a Junior All Stars class. Sunday May 22 is the reserve 'rain-out' date. More information, plus a promo video, are on the event's website HERE.

  • Lee Mitchener is back on top of the Karter Rankings after the second round of the Rotax Pro Tour at Warwick. As such he leads the senior points over Josh Fife, Troy Woolston, Adam Lindstrom and Marijn Kremers. Travis Worton is top junior ahead of Harrison Hoey and Cody Brewczynski. Emerson Vincent tops Cadet 9 while Kai Allen is top Cadet 12 and sits second outright. See the full listings HERE.

  • The Warrnambool Kart Club's track is closed until further notice as resurfacing works have now commenced. The club did not run a February club day race last Sunday. The new surface should see the track in prestine condition for the Country Series round there in May, followed by the Victorian State Cup in December.

  • The Adelaide Superkart Club has decided to promote its "events" rather than just the fact that there are Superkarts racing on a given day. The club will have A3-sized promo posters go up around town prior to each meeting (see bleow), created by club sponsor Geoff King / Modbury Press. "We run our own race meetings here in SA; hire the track, submit the permits to CAMS etc, and to make it work financially we invite cars to join us" the club advised KartSportNews.

  • KA STATEMENT: ROD KRETZSCHMAR - It is with sadness that Karting Australia acknowledges the passing of one of its founding members Rod Kretzschmar. Rod passed away on Wednesday February 24, he was aged 86. Rod was victorious at the inaugural Australian Championship event in 1963 event held in Seymour, Victoria. He then won the 125cc Mens Championship again in 1965 before claiming the 200cc title in 1967. Karting Australia on behalf of the entire karting community offers its condolences to the Kretschmar family and friends.

  • The Bartercard NSW Northern Zone Series will run over four rounds in 2016. Manning Valley Kart Club will host the first round on March 19. Rounds will follow at Coffs Harbour, Lismore and Tamworth. Series regulations are now on the Race Calendar page. The four clubs will be "encouraging a friendly, rural atmosphere for these meetings with particular encouragement to new competitors".

  • EurOz Driver Management will sponsor the NSW KZ2 Super Series. EurOz will offer every driver that is entered in the KZ class discounted coaching, training and nutrition plans to aid with all aspects of racing such a tough and high level class. "The series is a great way to ease yourself into the KZ scene and increase on experience before taking to the national scene" EurOz posted on Facebook.

  • In the current issue of F1 Racing magazine, Max Verstappen dismisses sim racing games and praises karting for teaching him the most. A reader posed the question "Has competing in online sim racing helped your real-life racing in any way". Verstappen's reply was "No, it's karting that has helped me the most. Sim racing I do for fun. The best experience is from racing itself, which is all a natural thing." Of course, Max is still a regular at the kart track aboard one of his CRGs.
