WSK Super Master Series Round 1 Done

While Saturday's racing was cancelled due to bad weather, Sunday's Finals went off without issue at the opening round of the WSK Super Master Series at the 7 Laghi International Circuit in Italy overnight.
The winners were Anthony Abbasse (Sodi-TM) in KZ, Jorrit Pex (CRG-Vortex) in KZ2 (these two classes ran on the track at the same time), Nicklas Nielsen (Tony-Vortex) in OK, Sami Taoufik (FA-Vortex) in OKJ and Francesco Pizzi (Energy-Iame) in 60Mini.
After the field was divided in two based on qualifying, Australian Oscar Piastri finished 6th in the OK-Junior pre-final B. This put him on grid 11 for the Final, in which he was classified 15th.
Unfortunately, Marcos Flack didn't make the cut for the 60 Mini Final. Flack was classified 28th in his pre-final after receiving a time penalty for a dislodged nose cone.
New Zealand's Marcus Armstrong was 19th in the KZ/KZ2 Final.

Anthony Abbasse against all in KZ
“If there are opponents behind me I should be worried about? Yes, of course: all the pack!” That’s what the excellent Anthony Abbasse (Sodi-TM-Vega) said about the drivers who made themselves conspicuous in the KZ Final. The French driver, caught in the grips between the Italian Paolo De Conto (CRG-Maxter-Vega) and his team-mate, the Dutch Bas Lammers, laid immediately the cards on the table and conquered the head of the Final which, up to that moment, had changed many leaders. Abbasse deserved this victory, which is even more valuable for the Sodi Team if we take in consideration the fact that Lammers was the runner-up ahead of De Conto.

Stan Pex prevails in KZ2
The Dutch Stan Pex (CRG-Vortex-Vega) was the best of the KZ2 drivers, who raced with a separate standings within the KZ racing programme. The Dutch easily won this first round leaving behind the Italian Leonardo Lorandi (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega), his toughest rival. The Italian Alex Irlando (Energy-TM-Vega), who followed in third, gained a position after Lorandi had to pull over on the last lap. The third step of the podium was scored by Giacomo Pollini at the end of a cautious race.

A superb Nielsen in OK
He had to close the gap after a start from the fourth row, but eventually Nicklas Nielsen (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) dominated the Final of the OK category. The Danish had to cope with excellent drivers such as the Spanish Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG-Parilla-Vega) and the Swedish Christian Lundgaard (Energy-TM-Vega), who seemed to be the two frontrunners in the first part of the race, together with the English Tom Joyner (Zanardi-Parilla-Vega). Joyner, eventually, lost ground while Hiltbrand and Lundgaard finished second and third.

Taoufik unbeatable in OKJ
He comes from Morocco and he was simply unbeatable in OK Junior: his name is Sami Taoufik (FA Kart-Vortex-Vega). He started from the pole-position and kept the leadership of the race until the end ahead of his main opponent, the Swedish Isaac Blomqvist (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega). While Taoufik gained ground over Blomqvist during the last laps, the Spanish David Vidales (Energy-TM.-Vega) secured the third place.

First exploit in WSK for Pizzi in the 60 Mini
The Italian Francesco Pizzi (Energy-Iame-Vega) scored his first victory in the WSK Super Master Series. He won the Final of the 60 Mini without leaving any chance to his fellow countryman Leonardo Caglioni (EvoKart-TM-Vega), who scored a well deserved second place. Third the Malaysian Adam Putera (CRG-TM-Vega), who managed to score the last podium position thanks to a great final phase of the race.
