Tassie Vintage Tour

by Stuart Lee 6 April 2016

The Tasmanian Vintage Kart Tour journeyed north to the Launceston Kart Club on Monday for day two of the tour.

The 30-odd vintage kart drivers were presented with a great track and with exceptional weather the drivers had a great time demonstrating the karts of yesteryear.

Visiting New Zealand competitors Murdock Anderson, Mark and Sharon Jenkinson and Peter and Prue Hollobon enjoyed every minute on track with karts supplied by local vintage kart family Allan and Heath Butt.

Also attending was Western Australian Don Tomich who shipped his kart across the Nullarbor for the weeklong tour.

Not all things went to plan with local Dave Grey having to complete an engine rebuild on site after a minor “nip up”.

Local vintage kart identity Peter “Fitz” Fitzpatrick also had a number of karts on display and in use.

The tour continues on to the Circular head kart Club on Thursday and to the North Western Kart Club next weekend, culminating in a tour dinner on Saturday night.
