press release 22 April 2016

Aussie Champ to tackle Europe's best Superkarters

Williams Racing is proud to announce Jordan Ford will compete in Round 2 of the European Superkart Championship at the world famous Donnington Park circuit on June 4th and 5th. This will be the first time an Australian has competed in the a round of the new for 2016 250cc 'Mono' championship. The meeting also features the stand alone MSA British Superkart Grand Prix which is the most prestigious race on the British calendar.

Ford, the reigning Australian 250 National Superkart Champion, took the local scene by storm last year becoming the first driver to win all eight championship races. He also broke the lap records at Phillip Island GP Circuit and Sydney Motorsport Park, the latter by an astonishing 3.2 seconds.

After negotiations with Anderson Karts in the UK, Williams Racing has purchased a new Anderson Maverick chassis with power being provided by Italian built DEA's latest spec engine. Completing the package will be European CIK spec Dunlop tyres.

The kart will be run and tuned by Russell Anderson out of the Anderson karts camp in what can only be described as a 'best of the best' deal. The Kiwi born Englishman is one of the most respected figures in world superkarting.

Support for the project, both locally and overseas, has been enthusiastic.

"As soon as we started talking to people about the idea, everyone was eager to get on board" stated Williams Racing team manager, Scott Williams.

"Les May at Dunlop Kartsport is a friend of both mine and Jordie's families and was one of the first to throw his support behind us. Les actually raced in the British GP in the 90s so knows what we are trying to achieve."

Williams added "This event is a bucket list dream for me. Jordie will be up against the best drivers in the UK and Europe with the best machinery. To run against drivers of the ilk of Gavin Bennett, Paul Platt and Dan Clarke at this level is a once in a lifetime opportunity."

Williams Racing plans to announce new naming rights sponsors and UK livery in the coming weeks as final designs are locked in.

Existing team sponsors Burbank Homes, Slipstream Signs, Dunlop Kartsport, JMTF, SCC and Peter Ford Catering are all a part of the program as well as continuing to support the team's multiple entries in the Victorian Superkart series.
