Bray Keen To Build On USA Points Lead

press release 21 July 2016

Kiwi kart international Daniel Bray is keen to build on his S1 class points lead at the second big double header Superkarts USA (SKUSA) Pro Tour kart race meeting of the season in the United States this weekend.

Former class title holder Bray, who this year is driving in the Pro Tour for the Guadalajara, Mexico-based VCI/GP Karts team, leads the series points standings in the premier S1 class after a dominant performance on the second day of competition at the first double-header round of the season at Glendale in Arizona.

The 28-year-old from Auckland could further extend that lead, with top three finishes at the second double header meeting at the New Castle Motorsports Park facility at New Castle in Indiana (near Indianapolis) on Saturday (Rnd 3) and/or Sunday (Rnd 4).

At the first double header meeting of the 2016 SKUSA series in Arizona in April Bray qualified second quickest and finished eighth on the first day of competition then qualified quickest, and won one of the two heats and the Final on the second.

Another Kiwi, Dunedin teenager Joshua Bethune, the 2015 South Island Rotax Max Junior class champion, is also competing at the meeting this weekend. He will drive an FA Kart with the KartSport North America team in the X30 Junior class.

The SummerNationals meeting has attracted over 240 entries across nine classes and with the opening series' rounds at the SpringNationals meeting in Arizona in April is part of the build-up for the biggest kart event on the annual US calendar, the SKUSA SuperNationals meeting in Las Vegas which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary and is being held held between November 16 and 20.
