  • Karting Australia has opened applications for the position of Competition Director on the AKA Ltd (Karting Australia) Board. An Information Pack (includes position description for the role) and Application Form is available by contacting Karting Australia’s Company Secretary by email: companysecretary@karting.net.au Applications close 5:00pm on 24 August. Members of the Board perform their duties on a voluntary basis.

  • Video promo for round 3 of the 2016 Tasmanian Statewide Series that takes place at Southern Tasmanian Kart Club's Orielton circuit on August 20/21.


  • The prospectus for AIDKA's 2016 National Dirt Kart Titles can be downloaded HERE. Nominations opened on August 1st and will close on August 29.

  • Karting Australia has updated its list of approved oils. Additional products from Global Racing Oil (1), Ipone (2), Lucas Oil (1), Penrite (2), Rock Oil (1), Stihl (1) and Xtreme Oil (1) have been added to the list. Implementation date for these is August 15. See the update HERE.

  • Have a look who can't stay away from a race track... Yep, Jeanette Monds has been trackside the last two weekends, despite having undergone surgery the other week for an aggressive cancer. Graeme filled in as Scales Marshal at the Gippsland club day a week ago. "She gave me this list of all the classes and weights and said "don't let 'em give you any shit!" ". She's a tough cookie.

  • Looking at racing at the 20th running of the SuperKarts! USA Supernats?   • Reminder that the North Western Kart Club, in conjunction with Karting Tasmania, has announced special rates with the Spirit of Tasmania for the Tasmanian Kart Championship. The meeting will be held at Highclere Raceway on November 18 to 20 and is open to karters from throughout the country, not just Tasmania.

  • Kiwi Kaden Probst will be competing at this weekend's City of Melbourne Titles. Kaden will be running in the fiercely contested Cadet 12 class with the Shamick Racing team and is looking forward to the challenge. Kaden started racing two years ago in New Zealand and has been a consistent front runner.



  • Supp Regs for WA State Championship meeting are now online - click HERE to download. The event takes place at Wanneroo from September 29 to October 2nd. Like the Tasmanian Championship, this 'one-off' blue-plate meeting is open to interstaters.

  • Not karting, but something all parents should consider: "What kids think when their parents watch their sporting events".


  • Entries are now open for round 6 of the Rotax Pro Tour at Puckapunyal later this month - click HERE for the Supp Regs. Conclusion of this round will see tickets awarded to Australia's qualified drivers for the 2016 Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals in Italy, plus the Rotax US Open. The round will also crown the Victorian State Rotax Champions across six classes. PLEASE NOTE: ENTRIES CLOSE SUNDAY 21ST AUGUST 2016.

  • Organisers of the 2016 Tasmanian Kart Championship are keen to let mainland TaG Restricted drivers know they can travel across Bass Strait and contest this meeting! TaG R Light and TaG R Heavy will both be offered, in addition to the usual Championship classes - Cadet 9, Cadet 12, KA4 Junior Light, KA4 Junior Heavy, KA3 Junior, KA3 Senior Light, KA3 Senior Heavy, TAS Sportsman KA4 Senior, TaG 125 Light and TaG 125 Heavy.

    It takes place at Highclere Raceway on November 18 to 20. There are currently deals in place on the Spirit of Tasmania (see separate News Brief). Link to Supp Regs will be available once they're made public. Meantime, contact the North Western Kart Club's president Mark Close on 0458 777 838.

  • The points for the 2016 Alpha Industries SA Kart Championship have been updated after Round Four - click HERE to see them.

  • Former treasurer of the Australian Karting Association of Queensland, John Lane, 52, has been jailed. Lane pleaded guilty to two counts of fraud, each to the value of more than $30,000, in April this year. The Toowoomba District Court sentenced Lane to 3 years imprisonment, however due to a number of factors the term will be suspended after he has served six months. More on thechronicle.com.au HERE.

  • Think you need to be young to race KZ2? Think again! The NSW KZ2 Super Series will include a Masters Series for drivers aged over 40. "It gives our gentleman drivers a chance to compete in the most exhilarating class of karting against drivers of a similar age" organisers stated. The Masters Series works as a secondary class on race day. Masters drivers are still eligible for the main series, but earn points for the Masters Series based on their position relative to the other Masters drivers on the track.   • Three times F1 World Champion Nelson Piquet is the newest member of the LeCont Tires team. Piquet has partnered with Wagner Rossi's WR Motorsports (the North American importer) and is building a LeCont factory in Brazil. It is set to be operational by July 2017. This year's Rock Island Grand Prix will be the first North American karting event to be sponsored by the Italian brand, the company supporting the "King of the Streets" shifter kart race.

  • A novelty of this year's CIK-FIA Asia-Pacific KZ Championship (Macau, December 8-10) will be tyres. "For logistical reasons, drivers will use the tyres of their choice from among those homologated by the CIK-FIA. They will bring their own tyres to Macau, with barcodes, which will be registered by the scrutineers of the event" the CIK-FIA advised. Entry is now open on the cikfia.com site, at a cost of €458 until November 9th.

  • Leading Australian KZ team Patrizicorse will have "Arrive and Drive" packages available for the CIK-FIA Asia Pacific KZ Cup in Macau. This will have Birel ART / Ricciardo Kart factory support staff and factory engine support through IAME. "We will also be using VEGA tyres. Don't settle for 2nd best at this great event.   • Driver PR: Russ Occhipinti has won the Victorian Superkart Club Non-Gearbox Light championship for the seventh time. He made a clean sweep of every round of the championship this year. "Many thanks go out to Peter Woodgate (EVO chassis), Ace Karts, Penrite oils, Johnny G for the support during 2016 and a special thanks to the Victorian Superkart Club for providing a very exiting championship."


  • from karting.net.au - Australian Paul Pittam made the A Final at the MSA Kartmasters British Kart Grand Prix on the weekend but unfortunately was out after six laps. The South Australian was classified 20th after the heat races. NSW driver Thomas Sargent was 36th after the X30 Junior heat races, leaving him to competed in the B Final, where he started 6th. He was however eliminated on the opening lap.
