Walker Claims 2016 Junior Super Series

press release 19 September 2016

Liam Walker has won the 2016 Cool Drive Junior Super Series after putting together a great 2016 campaign.

Just over a year ago Liam had to miss the 2015 Grand Final due to a broken arm, which cost him a Top Ten finish.

After recovering from the injury he was determined to come back and win the most sought after series in Speedway Karting through the country.

The Bridgestone Select Mt Druitt driver had a history making season. Liam claimed three round wins a first in the series, threewins in a row which is also a first, and even more impressive was he managed to win at three different race tracks.

Speaking with Liam after his series win, he was asked about why he was able to come out on top and what’s next.

"Well, racing in last year’s series taught me some race craft" he said. "Every meeting was tough and I feel that it made me mentally tougher than I have been before".

"I'm proud to have won this series and really hope I can continue to grow as a race driver."

When quizzed on what he might do next year; "I'm not sure at this stage. I look at last year’s champion Jake Donaldson, and he has already won a round in Formula Ford.

"I might do a season in Seniors and then hopefully I can get a ride in a Litre Sprintcar or Late Model".

Brandon Moore came from nowhere in the season finale to claim 2nd in the Championship. Heading into the Grand Final the driver of kart 21 was sitting in 5th place but a dominating final round at Gosford Show ground jumped him three places.

The ever consistent Sean Morley went about his business as usual scoring podium results consistently which is what you need in these closely contested series. Sean actually finished equal second in points with Brandon Moore but had to settle for 3rd place after a count back. That’s how close it was.

Brayden Shute looked to be Liam Walker's biggest challenger come series end after claiming a round win in the opening event of the year. But Brayden struck trouble in the Grand Final and would finish a credible 4th overall in his 1st year in Juniors.

Young Cadet 12 driver Jac Laneyrie took home the Outlaw Industries award for the 2016 Rising Star.

Big Thank you to both the New South Wales Speedway Kart Club and the Central Coast Speedway kart Club for hosting the Series and all the Volunteers that help during the Season.
