The Monarto Karting Complex, located just outside of Murray Bridge in South Australia, is set to come alive for Round Three of the 2017 Australian Kart Championship later this month (May 26-28).

With more than 220 entries expected across nine classes for the event, presented by Jayco and Castrol EDGE, it is set to be one of the largest ever held at the venue.

The Championship attracts competitors from all across Australia, along with New Zealand and Singapore, meaning that the Rural City of Murray Bridge will see a significant influx of visitors for the weekend.

"It was tremendous to be advised of the Australian Kart Championships being held at the Monarto Karting Complex - it is a testament to our local facility and its management.   The ability to attract events such as the Australian Kart Championships provides both economic and social benefits to our Community and Region," said Mayor Brenton Lewis.

“We have some great facilities in the region with the Monarto Karting Complex regarded as one of the best karting venues in Australia, and we look forward to seeing the best young drivers from all across Australia, along with several international visitors, coming to compete.”

It is the third year in succession that a round in the five-event Australian Kart Championship has been contested at the Monarto Karting Complex, much to the delight of the Go-Kart Club of South Australia President Andrew Jericho.

“Following on from the success of the last two years, we’re working hard to improve and prepare the facility for another fantastic event,” said Jericho.

“We pride ourselves on putting on the best event possible, to ensure both the local and visiting drivers, teams, mechanics and spectators enjoy their time in the Murray Bridge region.

“The support shown by the Murray Bridge community over the past couple of years has been tremendous and we look forward to an even bigger and better event this month.”

Practice will be held on Friday May 26 ahead of the qualifying heats on Saturday May 27, with the finals on Sunday May 28.
